Riverside Evening Gown — Dressmaker pattern

An overlapping bodice with long sleeves and flowing pleats.

The silhouette

The Riverside Evening Gown introduces a longer, flowing-looking silhouette with an overlapping bodice and a pleated skirt. Its darker preset cloth creates an evening mood, while the long sleeves make the top and bottom feel balanced. The wrap front is the clearest difference from the starter dresses. Look at it on the dress form before changing the neckline: an edge that seems small on the cutting table can read very differently when it is fitted to the body.

Bodice, sleeves and skirt panels

The three component choices are Wrap bodice, Long sleeves and Pleated skirt. The bodice supplies the overlapping front, while the sleeve cut lets you change how far the fabric extends down the arm. Work on the three skirt panels as separate pieces and compare their lengths before assembly. Preserve the upper joining edges when refining the lower curve. The preset has a longer hem, but you are free to shorten it within the coverage safety limit rather than being forced to keep the original outline.

Fabric combinations to try

Evening Plum is used for both the main cloth and the sleeve cloth in the preset, making the wrap and pleats read as one outfit. Lilac Garden provides a lighter floral interpretation; Berry Brocade offers a deeper patterned alternative once the necessary fabric access is available. Try a single cloth throughout before adding contrast to the sleeves so you can judge the garment shape clearly. Fabric recommendations here are visual choices from the actual catalogue, not a claim that these swatches have different physical drape.

Customer story and occasions

Inez returns to this pattern for her riverside performance in the second chapter of her story. She asks for something flowing and enough freedom for her bow arm. A long-sleeved preset may still need alteration to match that request, and the fitting conversation can point you toward the sleeve piece to revisit. The pattern unlocks at 12 reputation. You can also use it as an evening design in free mode, naming a version for the wardrobe or offering it in the shop without creating a new story commission.
